Is this tubing rigid like PVC pipe or soft and flexible? This tubing is soft and flexible, not rigid PVC pipe. It is designed to route easily around raised beds, garden rows, flower beds, and plants. For best results, use fittings made for flexible irrigation tubing. Why did my connector slip off or leak? A: Leaks or slipping usually happen when the fitting size does not match or the fitting is made for rigid tubing. Use compatible 1/2" flexible tubing connectors and push the tubing fully into place before testing water flow. Can I punch holes in this tubing and insert 1/4" barbed fittings? Some punch-in fittings may not seal well because this tubing is softer than rigid mainline tubing. For branch lines, we recommend using proper adapters, tees, or fittings designed for flexible 1/2" irrigation tubing. Is the new-material smell normal? Can I use it for my garden? Yes. A slight new-material scent may be present after sealed shipping and will fade after airing out. This tubing is designed for outdoor garden irrigation.
