How To Install Exhaust Heat Wrap Exhaust Wrap Installation Guide 1. Preparation & Safety: Soak the wrap in water before use. Wear safety glasses, a dust mask, and gloves for protection. 2. Surface Cleaning: Thoroughly clean all exhaust components. Any grease or dirt residue can pose a fire hazard. 3. Begin Wrapping: Fold back the first ¾–1″ of the wrap and tuck it underneath itself. Start at a flange or pipe end, making one complete turn to secure the starting point. 4. Wrapping Technique: Continue wrapping at a slight angle, overlapping each pass by approximately ¼". Maintain consistent tension. Every 5–6 coils, hand-twist and tighten the wrap to secure it. 5. Secure During Process: Use a tie or clamp at the start and periodically as needed, especially before any branching points (like merges or collectors). 6. Handling Close Tubes: If pipes are very close together, wrap them as a single unit, maintaining the ¼" overlap. At collectors, begin overlapping onto already wrapped sections. 7. Finishing: On the final coil, fold the end under itself and secure it firmly with a clamp, tie, or wire. 8. Curing: After installation, run the engine briefly.
