BASE: The larger the base, the more drive and acceleration. DEPTH: This is the height of the fin. The more depth, the more holding effect the fin will have on the board. WIDTH / RAKE (or SWEEP): The more sweep or rake on a fin, the less pivot feeling a board will have, making it easier it is to lay into powerful carves. The more upright, the more pivot will allow for tighter turns and pocket surfing.
