Product Description The Hillman Chain Bolt is designed to add security to doors on garages, warehouses, barns, and other industrial-type buildings. It slides a sturdy steel bolt into a strike to lock a door leaf firmly in place, and it is especially useful for pinning the inactive leaf of a double door or securing a door at the top or bottom. A spring-action bolt is at the heart of it. The bolt snaps positively into place and stays put against vibration and movement, and an attached pull chain lets you release a high-mounted bolt from down below, so a door top well out of arm's reach can be locked and unlocked without dragging over a ladder. It fits a wide range of doors. The bolt is designed to work with both in-swinging and out-swinging doors, and it can be installed on either wood or metal, which makes it a flexible security addition for shops, outbuildings, and commercial spaces of many kinds. Built from steel with a zinc-plated finish, the six-inch bolt resists rust and stands up to hard use, and it comes complete with all the mounting hardware you need. A pencil, a power drill with a one-sixteenth-inch bit, and a Phillips screwdriver are all it takes to install, adding dependable, low-cost security wherever a door needs to be locked down. Simple, sturdy, and versatile, it locks down a door where you need extra security without a complicated install. When chained is pulled "spring action" engages the bolt. Bolt has a 3/4" throw. Package includes a surface and mortise strike for installation flexibility. Can be used on in and out-swinging doors.
