These flutes are harder to play than our G or A flutes because as flutes move down in pitch they get longer and the finger hole spacing moves further apart and further down on the flute. That said, many beginners find this key suitable, especially if they have larger hands or some flute playing experience. As you may have suspected, with the larger and longer flute comes a deeper and lower voice. You are viewing the key of F#, which is the furthest right flute in the picture above. If you are looking for a smaller flute, consider our key of G flute (middle), or our key of A (far left). The size of the flute determines the sound or "key" . As you might suspect, the key of F Sharp is the lowest pitched of these three flutes.
