Product description Josh's Frogs Egg Flats for Feeder Insect Colonies Cardboard egg flats are ideal for providing a place for your feeder insects to crawl on, and can be used to gather them when you need some critters for feeding - just pick up the egg crate and shake the insects off into a feeding cup. Typically, there will be some bugs hanging out on the egg flat. Josh's Frogs recommends dividing the egg flats in two, and placing the pieces on top of the substrate in your insect enclosure. We use these for own own feeder insect colonies here at Josh's Frogs! Our egg flats measure ~12"L x 12"W x 2"H Package dimensions: ~12"L x 12"W x 6.75" Dubia Not only do these egg flats allow more Dubia to live in a small space, they also keep it cleaner. When stacked vertically, the roaches live on the flats while their waste falls to the bottom for easy removal. Crickets Feeder Crickets are housed in a higher density than they are found in the wild. Being a territorial insect, these egg flats increase surface area, decrease aggression and stress, and increase lifespan. Mealworm- Part 1 Mealworms change from eggs, to worms, to pupae, and then to beetles; successful colonies keep these life stages separate to prevent cannibalism. Eggs are laid in the bedding, mealworms eat the bedding and grow. Mealworm- Part 2 When they pupate, they should be placed in a new container with the egg flat. Beetles prefer to climb the egg flat which simplifies moving the beetles from one container to the next. See More
