Match the bolt diameter and thread pitch you need to restore, then confirm the insert length, usable hole depth, wall thickness, and tool access. The listed size is the finished internal thread; drilling dimensions are different. How much hole depth and clearance do I need? You need enough depth for drilling, tapping, the insert, and chip clearance, plus straight access for each tool. Measure the component before ordering. Blind or restricted holes may require a different repair method. Can I use these inserts with another tap or repair system? Use the supplied drill, tap, counterbore, driver, and inserts as a matched system. Tools or inserts from another system may use different outside threads, diameters, or seating geometry. Does the kit include a tap handle and how is threadlocker used? A tap handle is not included. Choose a handle that fits the supplied tap. Two threadlockers are included; apply and cure them according to the threadlocker manufacturer's directions and your application requirements. Why is the outside diameter (OD) of the tap the same as the OD of the stainless steel insert? The tap cuts the internal threads for the insert's mounting hole. Those threads must mate exactly with the insert's external threads, so the tap's OD must equal the insert's external thread OD to ensure proper installation and a secure fit.
