Product description The Thermopile is a kind of temperature sensor that can get signal from the heat and creat voltage to open and close the valve and let the heater gas in and close. The neccessary working temperature of the thermopile which need to reach 750mV is required 1202°F temperature heating. So if the valve cannot be opened, you may need check if the temperature of flame is enough , sometime need replace orifice or pilot.
