The Schlage Electronics 320M MiniLine mortise-mount electromagnetic lock with door status monitor and magnetic bond creates a secure locking system that allows egress during detectable emergencies and meets or exceeds Builders Hardware Manufacturer Association (BHMA) 500 lb. hold force requirements. The lock requires the use of an electronic access control system, automatic door operators, and a fire or hazard sensing system (sold separately). The electromagnet assembly is active when connected to a power source, and it loses its magnetic hold and unlocks the door when power is removed (also called a fail-safe design). Lock releases when triggered by a request-to-exit device or other switch as well as the linked fire or hazard sensing system.
