You should slowly turn the volume control wheel to the desired level of amplification. The maximum gain is 50dB, with a total decibel gain of 107 dB. Are the batteries easy to handle? It includes one 1.5V AAA Alkaline battery. To remove the compartment cover, gently depress and slide it with a thumb, matching the positive and negative ends when inserting the battery. Is the device comfortable to wear all day? Absolutely! The amplifier unit itself is lightweight and provides both comfortable premium stereo headphones with easily replaceable foam ear pads (great for extended home use) and unobtrusive earbuds (easily camouflaged in public). Is it hard to use? No, you only need to slowly turn the volume control wheel until you reach your desired level. The headband is easily adjustable to ensure a comfortable fit.
