Greek immigrants, experts in the art of diving brought their trade and families to Tarpon Springs to create a new industry and life. The warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico are known to provide the highest quality natural sponges. Sponge harvesting remains virtually unchanged for over 100 years. Divers cut natural sponges from the sea floor and auction their catch when they return from sea. Spa Destinations Sponge Processing Natural Sponges come in all shapes and sizes. There are many species and applications for natural sponges. We purchase only the finest quality Sea Wool and Yellow Sea Sponges for personal care.
