ONE-PIECE DESIGN IMI technology integrates friction material, backing plate and insulator into the brake pad for select applications QUIETER OPERATION Application-specific design and unique laser-shaped friction spreads out heat, sound and vibration INHIBITS CORROSION E-Shield protective coating is applied to non-braking surfaces for premium protection EASY INSTALLATION VCI bag eliminates the need for oil coating which reduces prep time Signs Your Brake Pads or Rotors Need Replacing Taking longer to come to a complete stop is an obvious sign that your brakes are losing their braking power. However, there are other indicators of brake pad wear. You may feel your vehicle pulling to one side or the brake pedal pulsating or vibrating. Listen closely when hitting the brake pedal, worn brake pads can make a variety of sounds including rattling or clicking, grinding or growling and squealing. If you feel a vibration or pulsation in your brake pedal, vehicle or steering wheel, it’s time to have the rotors inspected to determine if they need to be replaced. Increased braking distances and grooves/scores in the rotor decrease braking power and are another telltale sign of failing rotors. How to Check Brake Pads & Rotors for Wear Inspect your brake pads without removing the tire by looking through the holes in the hubcap. Some brake pads have a wear indicator down the center of the pad. If your pads don’t have that, measure the thickness; if it’s less than 1/4" it might be time to change them. If you can’t see the brake pads through the wheel cover, you’ll have to raise the vehicle and remove the tire to inspect the brake pad. For rotors, a road test is the best way to check your rotors. During a road test, look for a pulsation or vibration in the vehicle or on the brake pedal or steering wheel which can indicate that the rotors have a thickness variation problem. If a vibration or pulsation is felt in the brake pedal, there may be a problem with the rotor or caliper. Prepping Wagner E-Shield Rotors A quick cleaning of the Wagner E-Shield rotor should be done before installing. Wagner E-Shield rotors arrive in a VCI bag, uncoated with any oils. A warm soapy rinse, with or without a scrub brush, is all that is required to ensure the rotor is free of particles, any hand oils and ready to install. Wagner doesn’t recommend the use of brake cleaners. Change In Pairs When replacing the brake pads, Wagner recommends changing the rotors and hardware to maintain optimal braking power as changing both will provide even braking. If you install new brake pads but keep the old rotors, those pads will only properly. Don’t compromise your vehicle’s braking power – change the brake pads when replacing the rotors.
