The Electric Cooktop Surface Element Switch turns the heating element on and off and controls how much heat the element produces during the cooking process. This part is designed to be used with select major cooktop brands, including Whirlpool®, JennAir® and KitchenAid®; check to see if your model number is compatible. Replacing this part will require basic hand tools, some disassembly of the appliance and novice repair experience. You must unplug the cooktop or shut off the house circuit breaker before installing this part.
