Product description This Unitrol gas water heater control valve is an essential component for maintaining precise temperature control in your water heating system. The robust metal construction ensures durability and reliable performance, while the integrated thermostat with copper probe provides accurate temperature sensing and regulation. The valve features user-friendly controls with clear markings and an easy-to-adjust temperature dial. The complete assembly includes the main control valve unit, a copper temperature probe, and necessary mounting hardware. This replacement valve is compatible with standard gas water heater systems and comes with all required connection points for proper installation. The thoughtfully designed interface allows for straightforward temperature adjustment and pilot light control. Note: Professional installation is recommended for this technical component to ensure proper functionality and safety. 1. Long copper probe (main temperature sensor; the copper tube on the left in the image) This is the main temperature sensor. It is screwed directly into the temperature measurement hole in the side wall of the water heater tank. The probe extends into the water inside the tank to directly sense the water temperature, which is used to control the gas flow and set the outlet water temperature (the large red knob on the right is the temperature control knob). 2. The thin coiled metal capillary tube at the bottom (overheat protection thermoswitch) The thin coiled tube with a connector at the bottom of the image is the overheat protection sensor: The end of this capillary tube must be placed directly against the upper outer wall of the inner tank (the area with the highest temperature) and securely fastened to the water heater casing or inner tank wall using clips or aluminum foil tape. Function: In the event that the main thermostat fails and the water temperature spikes abnormally, this overheat sensor will immediately cut off the gas supply to ensure safety. Installation Location: Outer wall at the very top of the water tank liner (highest temperature area) Mounting Method: Use high-temperature-resistant aluminum foil tape or metal clips to secure the end of the capillary tube firmly against the outer wall of the liner at its highest point; it must not be left hanging. Function: In the event of a main thermostat failure, dry burning, or overheating, this sensor will immediately cut off the gas supply; it serves as a safety shut-off switch.
