The Generac 6484 Scheduled Maintenance Kit contains every genuine OEM replacement part needed to complete a full service on 12–18 kW air-cooled Generac standby generators with 760cc–990cc engines — keeping your backup power system ready when you need it most. Which generator models does this kit fit? This kit is engineered for 2013 and later Generac air-cooled standby generators in the 13–17 kW range, including models 6240, 6241, 6242, 6243, 6247, 6248, 6249, 6254, 6255, 6256, 6257, 6281, 6459, 6461, 6462, and 6721. It also fits Honeywell and Centurion standby generators manufactured by Generac where the engine displacement matches 760cc–990cc. This kit is not designed for portable generators. What is included? The kit contains a pre-cleaner, air filter (0J8478), oil filter (070185E), two OEM spark plugs (0E7585A) that arrive factory pre-gapped, an oil funnel, a chamois, a full instruction manual, and a preventative maintenance reminder sticker. Engine oil is not included and must be purchased separately — Generac recommends 5W-30 full synthetic; confirm the exact specification in your owner's manual. How often should I service it? Generac recommends performing scheduled maintenance every 200 operating hours or every 2 years, whichever comes first. If your generator operates in a dusty or high-debris environment, more frequent servicing may be necessary per your owner's manual. Will using this kit affect my warranty? Using genuine OEM Generac parts supports your generator's warranty requirements. Substituting non-OEM components may affect warranty coverage — this kit removes that risk entirely. Can I install it myself? Yes — no specialty tools are required. A standard socket set, the included oil funnel, and the step-by-step instruction manual are all you need.
