We sought out to simplify the process of making craft cocktails at home. We began our professional lives culinary trained at the Culinary Institute of America, and after, worked in several restaurants before opening our own cocktail bar in Charleston, SC. Seeing the need for quality cocktails made simply at home and inspired by what goes into making classic cocktails, my wife and I began reviving the tainted name of bottled cocktail mixers in 2013. While bitterness is often a missing component of other overly sweet or sour pre-made mixers on the market, Bittermilk uniquely highlights the bittering agents used in each mixer. More than just bitters, each Bittermilk product is compounded using a bittering agent, along with sweet and acidic components to achieve a balanced cocktail. Still handcrafted by us and our team in Charleston, South Carolina, each Bittermilk cocktail mixer is made in house using real ingredients processed with unique culinary techniques like barrel-aging, charring, and smoking to create complex flavor profiles. Our small team ensures the best quality cocktail mixer, from the sourcing of ingredients to bottling. The labor is in the bottle. Just add booze. What are the ingredients? Does it contain gluten or sugar? We use all natural, high quality, fresh ingredients. Bittermilk No.1 is bourbon barrel aged and includes: Florida Golden Cane Sugar, Water, Burnt Sugar, Fresh Orange Peel, Freshly Milled Spices, Gentian Root, Cinchona Bark and Tartaric Acid. How long does this product last after opening? Should I refrigerate it? A quality statement best by date (2 years from the date of production) is printed on the back label of each bottle. Once the Bittermilk old fashioned is opened, it should be refrigerated. It is best when used within about a month of opening. Does this product contain alcohol? No. Our cocktail mixers are non-alcoholic. Leaving them without the alcohol allows you to mix cocktails to your preference of strength and spirit, or use it to make a non-alcoholic drink. How do I use Bittermilk? What products do you recommend to mix this with? We recommend: 1 part Bittermilk to 4 parts Bourbon or Rye with ice. Garnish with an orange peel. Bourbon, Rye Whiskey, or other aged spirits are recommended, but have fun and mix to your preference in strength, spirit and sweetness. What if there is a problem with my order? If there is a problem with your order, shipment, or product, please send us a message through Amazon. Message us by going to the item page and clicking on Bittermilk. We will be happy to correct any problems.
