Product description Bont Skates - Rip Jaws Boot Hot Spot Removal Tool Removing hot spots from the heel of carbon inline skates, ice speed skates, roller skates, figure skates, and ice hockey skates has never been so easy. The Bont Rip Jaws is a hot spot removal tool Bont invented this tool in 1976 and supplied them to some shops and distributors over the years but this is the first time that we are making the tool available to the public. A hot spot is an area of discomfort in your boot. Carbon fiber and fiberglass boots only have a very thin layer of padding between your foot and the hard carbon fiber. Sometimes blisters can occur and the Rip Jaws has been designed to push and stretch the area of discomfort out to make the boot comfortable to skate in. The Bont Rip Jaws boot stretcher will easily stretch your boots to remove painful spots. The Bont Rip Jaws hot spot removal tool is perfect for removing hot spots from your ice, inline, or roller skate boots. Also works on any street shoe or boot. Instructions: Remove the laces from your skates and insolesHeat the area of discomfort with a hairdryer for about 5 minutes for Bont fiberglass boots or in the oven for Bont carbon boot. Refer to your boot manufacturer's heat molding instructions. Open the Rip Jaws and use the knob at the end of the handle to open it up widely.Put the Rip Jaws over the problem area and use the same knob to tighten the screw.Pull the handles together so it locks in place.Wait a few minutes for the boot to cool and then unlock the Rip Jaws You can do this process again if need be. Remember that if you have a blister or a painful spot on your foot, it's best to let it heal before testing the boot because your foot will still feel pain if it has not healed. HISTORY Bont Skates was founded in Sydney in 1975 when Inze Bont, a recreational short track ice speed skater decided to fiberglass the back of his leather speed skates to gain more support. Bont quickly became the world's largest producer of ice speed skates and then branched out into inline speed skates, quad speed skates, roller derby skates, and long track speed skates. Bont was the first footwear manufacturer to use exotic materials like fiberglass in 1974, Kevlar in 1986 and Carbon Fiber in 1989, and the first to use heat moldable resins and thermoplastics. Bont was also the first company to use adjustable ice blades and remains the world's largest producer of speed skates and custom speed skates. See More
