Today's turbocharged gasoline direct injection engines place high demands on spark plugs. Bosch EVO spark plugs are engineered to deliver maximum ignition performance within the extreme combustion environment that is the hallmark of modern turbocharged engines with gasoline direct injection. Turbocharged gasoline direct injected engines place high mechanical and performance demands on spark plugs, due to extreme combustion pressures and irregular combustion, known as mega knocking, that can occur. Bosch EVO spark plugs feature increased thermomechanical, mechanical, and electrical strength that ensures they will withstand the extreme pressures generated during mega knocking. EVO spark plugs incorporate an improved insulator and housing design for increased head-bending strength that reduces the chance for damage during installation and optimizes gas seal tightness in the cylinder head. With a laser-welded iridium alloy pin on the center electrode, and a platinum-iridium alloy plate on the ground electrode, EVO delivers a long service life and high wear resistance. Bosch EVO spark plugs are developed and produced with the same high quality as original equipment spark plugs.
