The car mat is sandwiched between the cap and the sliding washer when tightened into the anchor. Use the optional 3/8" Cutter if your mat doesn't have holes. The five-legged design provides optimal force distribution and ensures that all spikes are inserted at the same time. The fastener doesn't move if you push the mat hard in any direction. When you step on the cap, the anchor bends inward and the spikes go through the floor on a slight outward angle. When released, the fastener springs back and the spikes return to a vertical position, gripping the carpet. Due to the spike design, there will be no visible holes in the carpet if you have to remove the anchor, making it minimally intrusive. Installation is a Breeze and the Anchors Won't Break if You... Read the Instructions carefully before you begin the installation.Make sure the car floor has sufficient padding or space under the carpet at the place of Eagle Klaw anchor installation before making holes in the mats. Put the cap through the hole, push the sliding washer up onto the cap post. Screw the cap into the anchor until the end of the cap post is even or flush with the bottom of the anchor. Place the car mat where you want it to stay. Pre-engage the spikes by pushing the fastener down or tapping on the cap with a hammer slightly to prevent rebound. You can also make small holes in the floor using an awl.Stomp down on the Cap or use a hammer to ensure Vertical movement so the Spikes can pierce the floor. 2 Common installation mistakes that cause Negative Reviews Don't do this... Don’t tighten the cap into the anchor before you stomp on the cap to install the fastener. The spikes will break if the cap post sticks out under the anchor. Do this... Screw the cap into the anchor until the end of the cap post is even or flush with the bottom of the anchor. This will ensure that all prongs will be fully inserted without obstruction. Don't do this... Don't just engage the spikes with the carpet. They may come loose or break and the mat will move again. Do this... Make sure that all prongs fully penetrate the floor.
