Using Practicool’s various smaller screens sizes you can easily sift the dust from the Akadama and lava rock to improve aeration and drainage. Then add pumice and organic soil and resift to ensure soil is well mixed. By utilizing this superior gardening riddle set, you will positively impact soil fertility as it will enhance root uptake of minerals and water. Rock Gardening Rock Gardens can be tedious to keep clean, especially when using small rocks that small debris such as leaves, dirt and twigs don’t pass though. Blow off top layer with blower. Then to remove smaller particles, use medium to small screen to shift through rocks over trash bag. Rocks stay in the screen while smaller debris falls into trash bag or bin. Simply dump rocks back over for a clean top layer. Preparing Garden Soil & Mulching Start with larger mesh screens to sift out leaves and weeds. Dirt easily falls through leaving debris in sieve so you can easily discard. Once dirt is clean, change out to medium size screen to sift soil leaving clumps which you can then break up or discard. Last step is to prepare for seedlings, sift top layer with small gauge mesh so soil doesn’t compact and seedlings can easily pop their heads out.
