The Meinl Mini Djembe has the same build as our traditional size wood djembes but scaled-down for room décor—small enough for a desk, end table, or bookshelf. It measures 4.5" W x 8" H and weighs around 1 pound. This is a fun, novelty size drum that's a perfect gift for musicians. Also great if you're hunting for an earthy, handmade piece for your home's aesthetic. The shell is hand made out of a single piece of solid mahogany from certified managed forests (NOT glued together wood pieces). The exterior is beautifully hand painted. This Mini Djembe has the traditional West African Mali Weave rope tuning system and natural goat skin rawhide head; plus, the head produces tone.
