This revised and expanded edition includes all new locomotive models and data from 2007 to 2023, including the latest electrics from Siemens and Tier 4 locomotives from General Electric. Based on Siemens’ European Eurosprinter and Vectron locomotives, and built in Sacramento, Calif., the newest electrics in North America, Amtrak’s 125-mph, A.C.-traction ACS-64 motors are replacing aging AEM7 and HHP-8s on the Northeast Corridor and Keystone Corridor. One of the first ACS-64s in revenue service, Amtrak 602 leans into the S-curve at Elizabeth, N.J., with train No. 85 on May 5, 2014. Conrail purchased all 30 SD80MACs built, including EMD 8000-8001, which became Conrail 4128-4129 at the close of their demonstration tour. Renumbered for new owner CSX but still in Conrail paint, SD80MAC 803, built as CR 4108, leads former demonstrator 4128 at Cheektowaga, N.Y., on August 9, 1999.
