Product description We craft our beautiful ranges of throws, cushions and fashion accessories from the historic Moon mill in Guiseley, Yorkshire. Established in 1837 and with over 180 years of proud British manufacturing & design heritage already to our name, we are now one of Great Britain’s last remaining vertical woollen mills. The term ‘vertical’ is a throwback to the Victorian era when mills would rise several stories, with each floor containing separate parts of the manufacturing process. Today it remains a unique confirmation of our authenticity; we control every stage of production from raw wool to finished product including Dyeing, Blending, Carding, Spinning, Warping, Weaving, and Finishing. We create our collections with a balance between innovative design & traditional craft, maintaining our position at the forefront of commercial trends with consistent high quality. Our passion for distinction remains as strong now as ever, carrying the message of what it truly means to be ‘Made in Great Britain’. His Royal Highness visits Moon British Heritage From supplying fabric for a growing Leeds market throughout the 1800's to supplying the major fashion houses of modern times, this rich tapestry all comes together to create quite a story over the past 180 years. Experience & Expertise Generations of skill and expertise go into each and every one of our products. British Design Our in-house design team use our pattern archives for new collection inspiration; the oldest archive dates back to the early 1900’s British Quality Raw Wool Quality starts on the farm; sheep reared on a different diet can affect the quality, so we buy our Wool from proven sources. To make our luxury fabrics we need the best natural raw material. The wool that arrives at our site is either scoured or cleaned and combed broken tops, which ensures that there are less than 0.3% impurities within the fleeces. Dye House The raw wool then goes to the Dye House, to be dyed using precise combinations of dye, pressure, temperature and time. These combinations are kept a close secret to ensure our unique colour palette remains ours alone. We can currently dye our wool in over 500 different shades and colours; within the Dye House we keep a library of shade standards and recipes to ensure we have the continuity in each colour year after year. This is a highly skilled process that is essential to creating beautiful yarns. Scouring, Milling, & Finishing Our signature soft handle is fashioned in the Finishing process, where pure Yorkshire spring water is pumped from an artesian well within the Moon mill.
