Product description Lighter, Smoother Cast Iron for Better Everyday Cooking Previous page Next page Previous page Next page 1 Designed for Living 2 Chemical Free 3 Lighter & Easier 4 Induction Ready 5 Made in USA Getting Started with Field Cast Iron Previous page Next page Previous page Next page Do Field skillets work on induction stoves? Yes! At Field, we solved this with our heat ring—it keeps skillets balanced on glass/ceramic cooktops. At 0.04" clearance, it maintains full power from electric/induction elements. What makes Field cast iron different? Field uses machining to create smooth surfaces like vintage pans, not pebbly 'as cast.' We leave just enough texture to hold seasoning while keeping thinner, lighter walls for everyday use. Isn't cast iron supposed to be heavy? Not unnecessarily! We found the sweet spot: 4.3-4.5 lbs for a 10" skillet. Light enough for easy handling, thick enough for even heating and high-heat searing without warping—just like prized Griswold vintage pans. Does Field cast iron come pre-seasoned? Yes, pre-seasoned with grapeseed oil—ready to cook. For best results: preheat on low to medium 2–3 minutes, add oil or butter, then the food. Cast iron releases through heat, not coating. The more you cook on it, the better it gets. Why are there no pour spouts? Traditional spouts still drip. Our flared sidewalls work like a spoutless pitcher—smooth, single-stream pours with minimal dripping. Plus, no spouts means uniform wall thickness and lighter weight.
