The Zircon® StudSensor™ A100 stud finder wall scanner helps DIYers and pros locate the edges of wood and metal studs and joists before common wall projects. Use it for shelves, mirrors, cabinets, TVs, décor, repairs and other fastening projects where finding a solid reference point behind standard drywall matters. For best results, calibrate before each scan. Hold the scanner flat against the wall, then press and hold the Power Button. Do not move the scanner during calibration. In 1–2 seconds, a short beep confirms calibration is complete. After the beep, slide the tool slowly while keeping steady contact with the surface. Scan from both directions to confirm stud edges before drilling or fastening. StudSensor™ A100 includes two scanning modes. StudScan Mode locates stud edges up to 3/4 inch deep, while DeepScan® Mode doubles the scanning depth up to 1 1/2 inches. The tool can scan through many common sheet materials, including bare wood flooring in DeepScan® Mode, linoleum over wood, gypsum drywall over plywood sheathing, dry wallpaper and uniform textured ceilings when protected with a thin cardboard barrier. It is not designed for ceramic floor tile, carpeting and padding, metallic wallpaper, damp freshly painted walls, lath and plaster walls, foil covered insulation board, glass or other dense materials. Always verify readings before drilling. WireWarning® Detection alerts to live, unshielded AC wiring up to 2 inches deep while scanning in StudScan and DeepScan® Modes. This feature is a supplemental warning only and is not a precise wire locator or a replacement for turning off power and following proper drilling precautions. SpotLite® Pointer, LCD screen, audio tone and the illuminated V marker groove help identify and mark stud edges more clearly. The patented over-the-stud alert lets you know if scanning begins over a stud. Requires one fresh 9V battery, not included.
