In the war between the Resistance forces and the First Order, each side must have the best equipment. The TIE (Twin Ion Engine) Fighter used by the Imperial troops is an extremely effective weapon. Thanks to twin engines, it reaches extremely high speeds while maintaining remarkable maneuverability. To save weight to achieve these high speeds, deflector shields and life support systems have been removed. This requires the pilot to wear a fully sealed suit with integral air supply. The distinctive twin-hexagon solar array wings supply the fighter with energy, and eliminate the need for fuel tanks. The transparent cockpit surfaces offer better panoramic visibility than other fighters, and the standardized cockpit enables rapid replacement and interchange of pilots.
